REGISTRATION NOW OPEN FOR SPANISH AND FRENCH CLUBS

The Stoneleigh PTA will continue its after school clubs studying Spanish and French language and culture. These clubs are geared toward first through fifth grades only.  We have secured excellent, experienced instructors to lead the programs that will run from mid-November until April.  Clubs will meet 20 times on a weekly basis with several exceptions, mainly school holidays.

Our returning Spanish club teachers are Jackie Cordasco, Christine LaBue and Michele Cline.   Jackie Cordasco is a third grade teacher at Stoneleigh Elementary.  She graduated from Salisbury University with a minor in Spanish.  Christine LaBue, who teaches second grade at Stoneleigh, spent a summer studying in Spain and minored in Spanish in college.  Michele Cline is a Stoneleigh parent with a degree in Spanish and Secondary Education who has taught Spanish to middle school students.

We are very happy to have Donna Moss returning as our French Instructor.  Donna has a Master’s degree in French language, history and art, and lived for three years in France as a student.  Donna has taught in Fairfax County Schools in Virginia, at Wilmington Friends School in Delaware, in Baltimore County Schools, and has substituted at Stoneleigh Elementary and Roland Park Country School.

The Spanish Club will be meeting on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30 pm.   The Spanish clubs will be separated by age and years of experience.  The French Club will meet on Thursdays from 3:30-4:30 pm, with the possible addition of a second class on Wednesdays depending upon how many Stoneleigh students enroll.

Enrollments will be based on the POSTMARK of the completed registration, and will be on a first come basis.  ALL REGISTRATIONS MUST BE MAILED.  A minimum of 8 students is required and there will be a maximum of 16 enrollees per club class.

 The registration fee for either Spanish or French club is $150.  A confirmation email will be sent out to enrollees’ parents before the first class meeting.  If the clubs are over-subscribed, registration fees will be returned through the homeroom teachers.  After Monday, November 14^th, registration fees will be non-refundable.
